Why do we Need a New Home?

As Big Sky grows, we want to ensure we own a space so it will be here permanently, and we need to expand services to keep up with the demand.

1. Expand hours to provide Urgent Care

The closest Emergency Facility is 35 miles away from Lone Peak Veterinary Hospital. West Yellowstone and Ennis do not have veterinarians or emergency facilities. We feel it is important to extend our hours to handle a crisis that can not wait an hour or more to reach a doctor.

2. Provide housing for skilled workers

The clinic will provide four pet friendly condos for skilled workers including a second veterinarian, veterinary nurses and other community needs. One objective is to deed restrict this housing as work force only for the entire life of the building to help address Big Sky's housing crisis.

3. Address a nationwide Veterinary Shortage by securing services IN Big Sky

The United States is experiencing a veterinary shortage due to increased pet ownership, higher demands for quality pet care, and high retirement rates due to Covid. There are only 32 vet schools in the US to train new docs.

4. Meet the demand of a growing population while sustaining a woman owned, small business

Big Sky is a growing community and we want meet the increased demand of the community. With a larger clinic, we hope to avoid long wait times for procedures and continue to take new clients, while still providing the same quality and individualized care for each patient.

Big Sky is a special community and Lone Peak Vet prides itself on staying small and not becoming a large corporation which changes the way medicine is practiced. We hope to remain a small, woman owned business that will continue to serve the community.

5. Increase our space to handle and bring more shelter work to Big Sky

Lone Peak Veterinary Hospital already works to take in lost dogs/cats and reunite them with their families and helps in situations where animals need a place to stay warm & safe.

RUFF's goals are to work with Montana based rescue organizations and help bring rescue animals to Big Sky to be spayed/neutered, cared for, and adopted. We fixed 9 dogs in one day with RUFF funds to help these furry friends find forever homes after being in neglectful situations. We can do so much and hope to expand this aspect of our community by reserving 4 kennels, viable to the public for rescue animals. Please help make this possible!
